I remember, do you?

Your childhood friends.

No, not your neighbors but

Don’t you remember when…?

You sat in an empty toy box

And you were a pirate at sea,

Or playing with stuffed animals

Having them over for tea?

Do you remember in bed at night,

Imagining you flew on a dragon’s wing!

Or when you first rode your bike?

Oh, what a wonderful thing!

Do you remember your childhood,

How sweet and innocent it was?

Remember how happy you were,

To get ice-cream just because?

Do you remember your firsts?

Your first pet or plane ride.

Your first day of school,

And when your pet died?

I remember, do you?

I wish I could go back

To those sunny days.

Now I’m older, there’s something I lack.

That care-free spirit left me.

Now that I understand

I don’t want to. And now I can never go back

To that childhood land
